Introduction

Chemoinformatics is a relatively new term described, by Frank Brown in 1998, as the "mixing of information resources to transform data into information, and information into knowledge, for the intended purpose of making better decisions faster in the arena of drug lead identification and optimization". Recently chemoinformatics has an increasingly important role in the drug discovery. The concept of knowledge derivation in Chemoinformatics can be illustrated in Figure 1. In addition the term 'bioinformatics' has also appeared in the past few years to cover the computational aspects of genomics through to protein structure prediction.

CBI Team

Our team, "CBI" has been developing a number of useful softwares for the drug discovery and understanding the relationships between chemical structure and biological activity. The followings are the missions of our CBI in Research Institute of Bioinformatics & Molecular Design (BMD).
